New Role For Abbie?

An article about screenwriter Ian David was published today from the Sydney Morning Herald stating that he has been writing a blackly comic film, Mondo, based on the mafia’s grip on Griffith in the 1970s, including the murder of the anti-drugs campaigner Donald Mackay and mentioned among names to maybe star is Abbie Cornish:

With Jonathan Teplitzky (Gettin’ Square) as director, Guy Pearce is down to play a Robert Trimboli-style crime boss, with Abbie Cornish also keen on a major role.

Although the project isn’t mentioned anymore in the article and it is about Ian David, if you are interested you can read the entire thing here. Hopefully we will here something else regarding this soon!

Everything Goes Screencaps & Video

I added screencaptures of Everything Goes, the short film Abbie Cornish starred in in 2004 with Huge Weaving. The quality is really bad unfortunately but it’s better than nothing, and it’s such a lovely little film. You can also download the entire 17 minute film at the video vault in two parts. I really hope Huge & Abbie will be in another film together because their chemisty is fabulous! I think this review somes up the movie perfect:

“Most of the film’s meaning is sub-textual, but you don’t have to be an intellectual to enjoy it! Even though the film is only twenty minutes long, there is great detail in Hugo Weaving and Abbie Cornish’s characterizations, as well as richness and clarity in Andrew Kotatko’s screenplay and direction.”

Wildside Goodies

I received my copy of the Wildside DVD set today and Abbie appears in one of the three episodes. Even though this is one of her very first roles and she has little screen time, you can already tell that Cornish is such a natural talent… And stunningly beautiful, even back then! I’ve made screencaptures and added three video clips of her turn as Simone Summers. I hope that we are able to come by the rest of her Wildside episodes one day.
