Abbie is featured in the new issue of US Details magazine with Ryan Seacrest on the cover (April 2008). It’s a stunning new photoshoot and very lengthy article with Miss Cornish.

The article states that she is set to begin filming Bright Star next month.

Maybe it’s that she’s fresh from the beach. Or it could be the homage-to-bohemia outfit: white lace top, military-style jacket, red rubber Wellies, and thumb ring. Apparently Abbie did not attend the Stop-Loss press junket but Ryan Phillippe was asked about her. You can check out the full article on him here.

Abbie Cornish – Phillippe’s costar turned real-life girlfriend – did not attend the press junket. But he couldn’t help singing her praises.

“She’s beautiful and all that, but she’s a tomboy,” the actor said. “She’s a tough Aussie chick!”

Ryan Phillippe is speaking out in the March 2008 issue of W about Abbie Cornish for the first time. We all know the gossip by now and while we do try to stear clear of too much gossipy materal as much as possible, this is an official statement none the less.

“She and I are close friends, and as far as if there is any future, that is not where we are at now, that is what other people like to say or like to assume. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a friendship, and we are getting to know each other in a really difficult situation.”

“I would say that things are never as simple as it’s made out to be in the tabloid press. It was unfair for her to be called the names that she was, because it wasn’t about that. I don’t think an outside person can ever cause a divorce. I had difficulties in my relationship, and in my marriage, long before I ever met her.”

Furthermore, on February 12th, E! News touched base on the subject and in a news segment showed an interview with Abbie (which was recorded at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival). I have added captures of that as well as put it in the video vault for those of you who wish to download.

Sometimes it’s hard to reconcile the public image of Abbie Cornish with her Aussie farm-girl origins.

Watching her, all regal and corsetted, as the queen’s handmaiden in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, or reading about her reported part in the break-up of Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon, it’s tempting to think of her as a femme fatale who might care more about which designer label she’ll be wearing on the red carpet than how we treat animals.

But the moment she begins talking in her unaffected Aussie twang about bonding with the livestock on her father’s farm, or the thrill she gets from helping school kids learn about animal-welfare issues, it’s clear that appearances can be deceptive.

We decided we would make one last post concerning all of the James Bond rumors as Abbie Cornish was linked to be the new “Bond girl” since late 2006.

If you have not already heard, the two Bond girls for the still tenitively untitled Bond 22 have been casted and confirmed. Picking up where Casino Royale left off, the new James Bond film will see newcomer and British actress Gemma Arterton play MI6 Agent Fields. Arterton is best known from her performance in the comedy St. Trinian’s of this past year. Playing the lead love interest is Ukrainian born model/actress Olga Kurylenko. She plays Camille a woman who “challenges Bond and helps him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper’s betrayal.” Kurylenko received the certificate of excellence award at the 2006 Brooklyn International Film Festival for her performance in L’Annulaire and is best known for the films Paris, je t’aime and this past December’s Hitman.

It’s good to know the official casting and hopefully put the Bond rumor train to rest.
