MoviesOnline features a fabulous The Golden Age related interview with Abbie, which includes all kinds of interesting bits about the actress and her upcoming projects.
MoviesOnline sat down with Abbie Cornish at the Los Angeles press day for her new movie, “Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” directed by Shekhar Kapur from an original screenplay by William Nicholson (“Gladiator”) and Michael Hirst (“Elizabeth”). Reprising the roles they originated in seven-time Academy Award-nominated “Elizabeth,” Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush return for a gripping historical thriller laced with treachery and romance. Joining them in the epic is Clive Owen as Sir Walter Raleigh, a dashing seafarer and newfound temptation for Elizabeth.
Actor of the moment Abbie Cornish looks a certain starter for Flemington on Melbourne Cup Day. Cornish is understood to have been confirmed as a celebrity judge of the Myer Fashions on the Field event.
Cornish will be in Australia as part of a promotional tour for her latest film, Elizabeth: The Golden Age. The film, which stars Geoffrey Rush and Cate Blanchett, is released in Australia in November.
She is likely to be joined on the judging panel by Delta Goodrem.

Recently Abbie told News.com.au that she is not the next Bond girl and now she has told MTV the same. You may recall fellow Aussie, Rose Bryne gave MTV a story recently about Abbie being in the Bond 22.
“It’s just a rumor,” she said of persistent online speculation pegging her as the next Bond girl, “I haven’t had any meetings or any conversations about it, no. Sorry, mate.”
The latest rumor is that the producers are looking for a Latina actress to join Daniel Craig in the Marc Forster-directed 22nd installment.
Rising Aussie star Abbie Cornish was shocked by the public hatred she faced when linked romantically to co-star Ryan Phillippe and blamed her for the break-up of his marriage to Reese Witherspoon.
Cornish told our LA reporter Peta Hellard yesterday that she took six months away from acting to step out of the limelight after the experience.
“That was scary,” Cornish, 25, said. “I kept thinking, ‘Don’t pay attention to what they write’.
“With the media now, and especially the internet, there is not much you can do.
“I do find it strange that they express dislike and judge without having access to the truth – they say and do anything about anyone and it only generates hate.”
Cornish also denied reports she would be the next Bond girl – a suggestion made by fellow Australian actor Rose Byrne.
“It wasn’t a statement as much as it was a bit of a joke – poor Rose,” she said. “I’m not doing the Bond film.”
An article about screenwriter Ian David was published today from the Sydney Morning Herald stating that he has been writing a blackly comic film, Mondo, based on the mafia’s grip on Griffith in the 1970s, including the murder of the anti-drugs campaigner Donald Mackay and mentioned among names to maybe star is Abbie Cornish:
With Jonathan Teplitzky (Gettin’ Square) as director, Guy Pearce is down to play a Robert Trimboli-style crime boss, with Abbie Cornish also keen on a major role.
Although the project isn’t mentioned anymore in the article and it is about Ian David, if you are interested you can read the entire thing here. Hopefully we will here something else regarding this soon!
