Today’s the day - Stop-Loss finally hits US big screens! Please be sure to go and see it. Abbie has been getting rave reviews for her performance and the film itself has been very well received too. Since I am unable to see it myself (as I live in the UK), I would really appreciate any comments from the fans so please be sure to post your thoughts!

ComingSoon.net has posted another rave review of Abbie’s performance in Stop-Loss. Check out the full review here.

Peirce keeps things tighter and more focused on her characters, proving that Hilary Swank’s performance in Boys Don’t Cry was no fluke by producing equally satisfying performances from Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish. One of Australia’s finest young ingénues, Cornish is particularly convincing as the tough young Texan woman trying to come to grips with the events that have caused such suffering and changes in her fiance and childhood friends. The chemistry between Phillippe and Cornish makes their time on the road the best part of the movie, although thankfully, their relationship does not go where some might expect. It clearly shows how the Hollywood esthetics of 21 hurt it compared to the indie approach taken with Stop-Loss that allows it to be far more credible.

But at a diner in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Los Feliz, as Cornish slouches against a wall and twists her wavy blond hair into a ponytail, she looks more like a lovely, disheveled wanderer (the kind every guy hopes to meet on his soul-searching trip to Europe) than a movie star who got a standing ovation at Cannes in 2004 for her first leading role… read more
